What is the ADDAC200S Size Matter?

The ADDAC200S is a passive format conversion module designed to facilitate interfacing between Eurorack and external audio equipment such as studio gear and effect pedals. It features three independent channels, each equipped with 1/4-inch (6.35mm) and 1/8-inch (3.5mm) jack inputs and outputs. This allows for smooth signal exchange between different connection standards.

As a passive design requiring no power supply, it can be placed anywhere without concern for power consumption, making it a flexible utility module. Since it performs no electrical buffering or gain adjustment, it’s also suitable for situations where faithful signal transmission is required.

Versatile Signal Routing

The ADDAC200S handles both CV signals and audio signals, enabling experimental routing within a Eurorack system as well as versatile applications such as:

  1. Connecting to studio mixers and audio interfaces
  2. Using guitar effect pedals as send/return points
  3. Passing CV signals from hardware synthesizers and drum machines
  4. Serving as a simple line splitting/conversion unit for stage use

There are no restrictions on input/output direction — all three channels can be used in one direction, or mixed for both input and output. This flexibility allows for creative use adapted to any performance or production style.

Personal Impressions

This module simply converts between Eurorack-standard 3.5mm jacks and the 6.35mm jacks commonly used in studio equipment. While short adapter cables can accomplish the same task, there’s always a slight concern about cables getting bumped and disconnecting or introducing noise during performance. When you need this kind of jack conversion, having this module in your modular system provides a convenient solution.

As related modules, we also carry products that handle level amplification/attenuation as well, level conversion only, or noise reduction via transformers. Please consider these as needed:
