AI018 Stereo Matrix Mixer Features
The AI018 Eurorack Stereo Matrix Mixer is a compact 8-input, 8-output matrix mixer. A matrix mixer is used to route audio or CV signals from multiple sources to different destinations. It has 16 potentiometers, each controlling the amount of a designated stereo input pair (1-4) sent to a designated stereo output (A-D).
A common use case for the AI018 is as an effects send. By combining one or more audio inputs with one or more effect inputs/outputs, the AI018 allows you to send inputs to multiple effects, send effects to each other, and even to themselves, enabling far more flexible mixing than a typical mixer’s send/return functionality.

DIY Guide
The DIY kit includes the panel, PCB, all components, a power ribbon cable, and mounting screws.
AI Synthesis provides detailed DIY guides on their website. The guide below includes a build video and step-by-step instructions with photos, making it great for DIY beginners as well.
Build Impressions
I (Takazudo) also built one myself. The video below shows the process. It’s not a particularly instructional video, but it may give you a feel for the kit. You’ll notice that the parts come neatly sorted into individual bags — a thoughtful touch.
All components are through-hole and easy to solder. While it takes some time due to the number of parts, the difficulty level itself is not high. As long as you follow the build guide and take care not to install resistors with the wrong values, even beginners should enjoy the assembly process. If the module doesn’t work after building, check your solder joints — look for insufficient solder or bridges between adjacent pads.
