This is the product details page for the Envy Machine by RYK Modular, available at Takazudo Modular.

Envy Machine is a 12HP modulation machine with four independent modulation channels. Each channel runs in one of five modes: ADSR envelope, AD envelope, AD LFO, random voltage, and a voltage control that records knob movements.

In addition to the assembled unit, we also carry the DIY kit.

Overview

Envy Machine is a module dedicated to generating modulation signals. Its four channels each operate independently, with the mode set per channel. That means a single unit can simultaneously take on different roles — envelopes, LFOs, random voltages, and recorded manual movements.

Each channel can be set to one of the following five modes:

  • ADSR Envelope

  • AD Envelope

  • AD LFO

  • Random Voltage

  • Recordable Knob Voltage Control

In every mode, the output waveform is continuously variable between logarithmic, exponential, sine, trapezoid, and square. Signal level and polarity are adjusted with an attenuverter, and each channel can take external CV via its own MOD input.

The Four Modulation Channels

ADSR Envelope / AD Envelope

In ADSR Envelope mode, the channel works as an envelope generator with four parameters: attack, decay, sustain, and release. AD Envelope mode is a two-parameter configuration with attack and decay only.

The envelope time range is 1.5ms to 4min.

AD LFO

In AD LFO mode, the channel works as an LFO. The range is 88Hz to 7min, covering everything from speeds that reach the audio range down to cycles that take several minutes, all within one mode.

Random Voltage

In Random Voltage mode, the channel generates random voltages. The range is 2kHz to 2min, so you can set anything from audio-rate speeds to slow changes that unfold over minutes.

Recordable Knob Voltage Control

In Recordable Knob Voltage Control mode, the knob movement itself is recorded and can be played back as a modulation signal. Rather than a fixed shape like an envelope or LFO, it lets you treat a hand-drawn gesture as parameter movement.

Continuously Variable Waveforms

The waveform each channel outputs can be varied continuously between the following shapes:

  • Logarithmic

  • Exponential

  • Sine

  • Trapezoid

  • Square

Because this is continuous rather than a stepped switch, you can set envelope curves and LFO shapes that fall between these shapes as well.

Attenuverters and MOD Inputs

Bipolar attenuverters are provided for the modulation input and for each channel's output. They handle polarity inversion as well as attenuation, so you can derive both positive-going and negative-going modulation from the same signal.

Each channel also has a dedicated MOD input, letting you control that channel with external CV.

Output and Input Voltage Ranges

  • Envelope output: 0/8V (8V/0V when inverted)

  • LFO / random output: unipolar 0/8V, or bipolar -5V/+5V

  • Input voltage range: -5V/+5V

About the Brand

About RYK Modular

RYK Modular is a modular synthesizer maker based in the UK.

RYK Modular makes modules that are unique yet genuinely practical. Their most talked-about module right now is the M185 — a classic sequencer reimagined in a form that feels right at home in a modular rig. Their VectorWave FM oscillator module is another standout.

Bonus: Modular Accessory Set by 電氣美術研究會 (Denki Bijutsu Kenkyukai) Included

In the hope that more people will get hands-on with modular synths, we have teamed up with 電氣美術研究會 to bundle a modular accessory set with this product.

The contents vary by season — patch cables, power cables, a dress-nut sample set, a mono splitter, and more. The set is included with the product, so please give it a try!

That concludes the product details for the Envy Machine.

It's a module that packs envelopes, LFOs, random voltages, and recorded knob movements into four independent channels in 12HP.

We hope you find this helpful.
