3-Channel Stereo Mixer
The M3S features three stereo input channels (3 Left / 3 Right), each with an attenuator control providing up to unity gain. Input signals are summed and output through the Left and Right outputs.
High input impedance (100kΩ) and low-noise audio-grade operational amplifiers ensure clean signal processing.
Input Normal
A convenient feature of the M3S is its input normalling: when no jack is plugged into a Right input, the signal from the corresponding Left input is automatically routed to the Right side as well. This means you can mix 1 to 3 mono signals by patching only the Left inputs and still get stereo output.
AC/DC Coupling
Rear jumpers (MK1) or DIP switches (MK2) allow you to switch the coupling mode of the Left and Right buses.
- AC Coupling: Suited for audio signal mixing. Removes DC offset
- DC Coupling: Supports CV signal mixing. Passes DC content through unchanged
Linear/Log Response (MK2)
MK2 units (serial number 10020 and above) allow switching each channel’s potentiometer response between linear and logarithmic. Log response is typically preferred for audio applications, while linear response suits CV applications.
My Impressions
These days, more and more modules are feature-rich and support stereo. When you set out to get a stereo mixer in that context, the options tend to be overly elaborate. The M3S, however, is extremely compact. It’s incredibly handy for summing stereo effect returns, mixing multiple mono sources into a stereo field, and generally tidying up your patches.
The 6HP footprint and 25mm shallow depth make it a valuable addition to portable cases. Thanks to the input normal feature, it’s equally convenient for mixing mono signals.
With AC/DC coupling support, it works not only as an audio mixer but also for CV signal mixing. It’s a simple module, but one that expands your patching possibilities.
